Our school is situated in a small town on the outskirts of Silesian agglomeration ( 50km away from Katowice). There is no significant industry. Main employers are small entrepreneurs and middle-sized factories. The area is free from pathological factors like alcoholism or delinquency however there is a high migration rate to Germany and Holland. The main problem that our students must struggle with is poverty, which makes them unable to develop their abilities fully. Moreover there is a low rate of parents with higher degree than matura. The possibilities of travelling are limited and they cannot afford to pay for some extra language lessons or sports classes. Their motivation must be reinforced in order to show them how important the usage of foreign languages in their future carrier. On the other hand, the results achieved by the student are relatively high (in 2009 the school was the first one in the county). In addition to it, numerous students have taken top positions in various sports competitions.
