The Primary School number 4 of Vila Franca de Xira
is one of the three primary schools of our Group of Schools. It is part of the
same building a kindergarten room.
It is located 2km from the town of Vila Franca de
Xira, in a neighborhood of homes with reduced trade, a community and two
private institutions of Social Solidarity with the valence of Leisure
Activities.
The school was built in The Beginning of the 80s
on the site of an earlier cakes school. The main bulding recently undergone a
major refurbishment. It has a library belonging to the national network of
school libraries.
The Primary School number 4 of Vila Franca de Xira is a multicultural school
because of their cultural and linguistic diversity, with a tradition in
education of deaf students.
The classes are organized by grade from 1st to 4th grade, but the Kafkaesque
Portuguese education provides a single teacher being allowed classes with more
than one year of schooling.
The classes are made up of 24 students, in the case where there is the
integration of pupils with SEN, are reduced to 20 students.
5 of 7 existing classes have students with special needs, adds a class of deaf
students with implementation of the Curriculum of Portuguese Sign Language.
Support teachers teach Portuguese to foreign students.
There is a Parents Association which plays an role.
Students have 25 hours per week of the National Curriculum subjects and 10
hours of Enrichment Activities Course, which are often the last facultative.
These activities are made up of teaching English, teaching of music,
speech-motor and physical support for the study.
